Masiakasaurus knopfleri was a dinosaur that lived in north-west Madagascar. It would have stood about 1.5m
tall.
Its most distinguishing feature was its teeth. On the lower jaw, the front teeth pointed forwards.
Its unusual name (lit. "The vicious lizard of Knopfler") is due to rock performer Mark Knopfler of the group
Dire Straits. A University of Utah researcher, Scott Sampson, said that when they played the group's music they
were more successful in their digs for the creature.
