Michael Nyman

The best English Contemporary composer. His music is at times chaotic and rythmic. He has created the most wonderful film scores of all times for movies such as The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, one of Peter Greenaway's best films, The Piano, 6 Days, 6 Nights.

Ah, Mr. Nyman also made a few pieces from the works of poet Paul Celan, William Shakespeare, Mozart and Rimbaud to be performed by Ute Lemper and his own band. The recording of all this effort is called Michael Nyman: Songbook, published by London Records.
