Mike Gordon is most famous for playing bass guitar in the Vermont-based band Phish. Nicknamed "Cactus", he is quiet and unassuming, yet able to lead a jam or lay down some serious funk whenever needed. Mike plays custom basses made by Paul Languedoc.
In addition to his talents with the bass, Gordon is also a guitar player, filmmaker, and writer. 1997 saw the release of his collection of 55 short stories called Mike's Corner: Daunting Literary Snippets from Phish's Bassist . His first feature film, Outside Out , was released in 2000. Gordon has even tried his hand at acting, playing the role of guitar player Matt Gizzard in Outside Out . Although most would say that his primary talents are in music, Gordon has proved that he is willing to try almost any type of creative endeavor.
