Another
trenchcoated mystic in the
tradition of
John Constantine,
the Phantom Stranger, and
Dr. Occult, but a little bit creepier.
He's blind, on account of his father scooping his eyeballs out with a spoon after catching him looking at a woman of "low moral character" (it was actually his mother), and has to use magic to see. He's actually pretty low-key about it, quoting Jesus, "If thine eye offends thee, pluck it out".
He's also violently schizophrenic, changing from the mild-mannered Erik to the fundamentally psychotic Christian Mr. E. whenever he dons his baby blue coat.
He's imbued with the power to walk through time and has been employed to show young Timothy Hunter his various possibile futures. He tried to kill Hunter at the end of the Universe once, and as punishment Death made him walk all the way back.
