Mitchell Royce is a character in the comic
Transmetropolitan, which is written by
Warren Ellis. Royce is the editor for
the Word, the paper for which Spider writes his column,
I Hate It Here. He has known Spider for awhile, and Spider went to Royce for work when he returned down from the mountain.
He and Spider have been working together for awhile now. It was Royce who got Spider into France during the
War of Verbals, and Royce was with him in Prague, on
The Terrible Night of the Telephone.
With Spider no longer working for
the Word, Royce is no longer his editor, however Royce still supports Spider's fight against
The Smiler. But Royce did try and prevent Spider's fireing by going toe-to-toe with the Board of Directors of
the Word.
