An example of one of the temples of Mithras can be found in the basement of Yale University's Art Gallery. It's a small room, centered on a representation of the zodiac, with a small grooved stone in front of it, to drain blood from sacrifices. By museum light it's strangely peaceful looking. I wonder what it looked like by torchlight.
