A very fast car, only produced in limited quantities in Japan. Most recent model is the Lancer Evolution VI, or just EVO VI. Created for the sole purpose of rally racing. The EVO VI is the last Lancer that will be produced as a street car as well, since the rally rules no longer require that for homologation.

Uses the turbo charged 4G63 Mitsubishi engine, rated at 280 bhp for the street version, and reported at 300 bhp for the race version.
Driven by World Rally Champion Tommi Mäkinen in the 1999 season, and won the 1999 Monte Carlo rally.

The Mitsubishi Lancer is the Japanese name for the car that is/was sold in the USA as the Mitsubishi Mirage. The Lancer is a small four-door sedan.

The Lancer would be totally uninteresting, if it wasn't for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, a special version of the car. It's actually more like a totally different car, as the Evo is a racing car in street-car clothes.
