A record label out of New York City that speciallized in third-wave ska. Founded by Bucket Hingley in 1983, the label closed its doors on December 17, 2000. Moon Ska Records is partially responsible for starting the ska craze in the United States that thrived throughout the second half of the eighties and for the greater part of the nineties. Moon Ska's philosophy was to allow the smaller bands a chance to make it big by publishing numerous compilations showcasing their work. Current ska bands that originated on Moon Ska Records are The Toasters (Bucket Hingley's own band), The Pietasters, The Scofflaws, The Slackers, Skavoovie & the Epitones, and more.
