Motion Perception - complicated process involving both visual messages from the retina and messages from muscles of the eyes as they follow an object.

Real Movement - physical displacement, how position of object changes in relation to its background. Involves M-cells (magnocellular).
Biological Movement - we innately recognize the movement of a human body. It's more flowing and natural than artificial, nonhuman movement.
Autokinetic Movement (Apparent Movement) - This is when we have the perception that a stationary object is moving. Also, if you stare at something long enough, it will appear to move because of the slight twitching of your eye muscles.
Stroboscopic Movement - apparent motion created by a rapid series of images of stationary objects (aka: movies and cartoons).
Phi Phenomenon - Ever see Christmas lights that appear to move along the string? The Phi Phenomenon is when many lights blinking in sequence give the illusion of a single spot of light moving.
