Mr. Xcitement features a variety of people helping the Johns out. First off, all the horn parts are samples of the
Velcro Horns, who join TMBG on occassion. Secondly, the vocals are done by
Mike Doughty of
Soul Coughing fame. If you were wondering why the lyrics are so weird and in a totally different style than the usual TMBG, there's your answer.
Finally, the entire thing has been taken through some sort of food processor for songs by The Elegant Too. They basically added all sorts of electronic elements, scratching, and some wild beats. The song overall sounds very different from most anything else that TMBG have done. That's not a bad thing. It's just... different.
