Effects of Mullerian Inhibiting Hormone (MIH)

Responsible in human foetal development for preventing the expression of female physiology.
In conjunction with androgens, cause the formation of the male system

A genetic disorder exists, known as androgen insensitivity syndrome, which causes the malformation of androgen receptors in the foetus and as a result, no masculinization occurs; i.e. the genotype of the individual is XY, where as female physical and sexual characteristics (i.e. formation of breasts, womb and vagina) are phenotypically expressed (as female is the 'default' setting), but not fully developed (due to activity of MIH) and the individual is rendered infertile. A celebrity example of this condition is actress Jamie Lee Curtis - phenotypically female, genotypically male.
