Britney Spears's restaurant. That's not a typo.

Spears (or, more probably, her partner, celebrity restaurant veteran Bobby Ochs) scrapped the name Pinky after her breakup with Justin Timberlake, who bestowed the nickname on her. Instead, the postal abbreviations1 of New York, where the restaurant was located, and Louisiana, where Spears was born, were combined to produce the name Nyla.

The restaurant opened at 52 East 41st Street, in the Dylan Hotel, in June 2002. It replaced Didier Virot's eponymous French restaurant.

Nyla's American bistro cuisine was moderately priced, entrees being in the $16-$26 range. That's moderate in that neighborhood, not far from Grand Central Terminal.

The restaurant closed in January of 2003.

1I am aware that "N.Y." and "La." were both used before the USPS went over to two-letter abbreviations. I'm describing the process Spears and Ochs are reported to have used.
