Nanshan Temple, (also known as Yanfu Temple), was built at the foot of Danxia Mountain in 736 AD, (the 24th year of Kaiyuan in the Tang Dynasty). It was rebuilt at the end of the Qing Dynasty, (it was rebuilt almost exactly the same as it was originally).

This ancient Buddhist temple has 4 main areas; Heaven King Palace, Grand Hall, Jingye Hall and Scripture Tower. The Scripture Tower is home to the largest indoor statue in the Fujian province. This Buddha statue is made out of white jade, stands six feet tall, and weighs over 3000 lbs.
