The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers or RMT is the British Trades Union that represents some 60,000 workers employed on the railways including the London underground and in shipping and road transport.

Despite its catch-all name, its strengths are in the shipping and rail industries, which is not surprising as it was formed in 1990 from the merger of the National Union of Seamen and the National Union of Railwaymen.
