I recently re-learned this. As I was testing some HDD's I had the bright idea to cradle them in my lap. This was a bad idea. Everything was fine, for about two minutes. Then I accidentally slid back a little. Unluckily, the SCSI cable was Teflon. Teflon does not flex or bend as well as PVC or Thermal Plastic. As I slid back, the cabling yanked the Adaptec 29160 out of the PCI slot. I half-shat my pants and jammed it back in. Then the power supply clicked and the computer died. I waited ten minutes and turned it back on.
And the -12V voltage was never the same.
