Nigel Mansell

British race car driver. Mansell won 31 of the 185 Grand Prix he contested. He has raced for Lotus, Williams, Ferrari and briefly for McLaren. Mansell is famous for having pushed his car over the finish line after running out of fuel&with the checkered flag in sight. He left Formula 1 to race in CART and easily won his first race and captured the championship. He returned to F1 after only two years in CART.

Mansell also narrowly missed the World Championship in 1986
by the spectacular tyre burst in the final race of the season in Adelaide. He was actually told by the Goodyear pit crew top come in several laps beforehand. however he ignored them. Tyre wear is a science and not an act of God.
