I was introduced to this system of eating through my treatment for an eating disorder at UPMC's Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic Hospital. This system was developed by the American Dietetic Association and American Diabetes Association for use by diabetics, but it is a healthy way of eating for all people. You may also purchase Exchange Lists for Meal Planning (ADA Item #0734) from the American Dietetic Association or order by phone ( 1-800-877-1600, Ext. 5000). Many websites and books contain selected exchange information, but to date I have not found one database such as this.
