Roman name for a town in the province of Moesia Inferior, now the modern-day city of Gigen in Bulgaria, located at the confluence of the Danube (Donau) and Iskar rivers.

Because of its location at a critical juncture of the Roman road net, Oescus was fortified in the 1st century. Under Roman emperor Trajan, the city was granted status as a colonia.
