Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, had a contest to pick the official cookie of Red Deer. These aren't red, and they contain no venison, but they're tasty. They'll make your teeth fall out too, they have so much sugar in 'em. note: C = cup, T - tablespoon, t = teaspoon. heehee, also note: the dashes don't mean you should use negative amounts of the ingredients.

Caramel Surprise

ingredients:
-2.5 C flour
-0.75 C cocoa
-1 t baking soda
-1 C white sugar
-1 C brown sugar
-1 C margarine
-1 t vanilla
-2 eggs
-0.5 C chopped pecans
-40 Rolo caramels
for topping:
-0.5 C chopped nuts
-1 T sugar

In a large bowl cream margarine; then beat in white sugar and brown sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs; beat well. Add flour, cocoa and baking soda, blend well. Stir in pecans. Shape 1 tablespoon of dough around 1 Rolo caramel, making sure it is completely covered. In a small bowl combine the 2 topping ingredients. Press one side of each ball in to the topping mixture and place nut-side up on an ungreased cookie sheet. NOTE: If the cookie spreads too much while baking, add a little flour to the dough. Bake at 350° Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Makes 40 cookies.
