Oliver Platt (1960- ) is an iconic Canadian-American actor renowned for his screen presence and versatility. In a theatre, film, and television career spanning four decades, he has played just about every kind of role possible. Indeed, Platt states that his philosophy in choosing roles is to make his next role as different as possible from his previous role, so he won't get bored. Rarely the lead, Platt typically plays a major supporting role, and has made memorable appearances in films such as Married to the Mob (1988), Working Girl (1988), Flatliners (1990), The Three Musketeers (1993), A Time to Kill (1996), Bulworth (1998), and Dr. Doolittle (1998). At present he stars opposite Laura Linney in the Showtime original television series The Big C.
