Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst (alias Kerry Thornley) is a rather unusual fellow who invented Discordianism, attributed it to an imaginary character named Mal-2 (whose imaginary real name is Greg Hill), and then went and died.

According to Kerry Thornly in the introduction to the 5th edition of the Principia Discordia:
My own favorite Holy Name - Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst - functions in that way. It is a walking identity crisis. Anybody can say or do anything in the name of Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst. For better or worse, that never fails to confuse the authorities.

According to his story, the name originated while he was in the military and he placed the name on a duty roster.

It should be noted that according to Marine records Omar was reported to have an IQ of 157, spoke 17 different languages, worked as a truck driver, and after 10 years in the marines NEVER received a promotion. His serial number was 1369697 and rank private.
