Pentagon, under pressure from certain media publications, has finally released a suppressed report detailing the damage dealt to the
Serbs in the
Kosovo air war.
During the war
NATO claimed:
Up to 450
artillery and
mortar pieces destroyed ("more than 50%")
120
tanks and 220
APCs destroyed ("1/3 of the
armored vehicles")
744 "confirmed" strikes
Revised Total:
20 artillery pieces destroyed
14 tanks and 18 APCs destroyed (~3% of armored vehicles, as can be discerned with simple
algebra)
58 strikes
It is too bad that I was not able to find any accurate statistics concerning "
collateral damage" (to use the sterile military
euphemism.)
