Orville Redenbacher, king of popcorn, was born in 1907 and grew up in Indiana. In his earlier years, Orville grew popcorn to earn extra money. Later, after 30,000 different strains, Orville and Charlie Bowman created a hybrid kernel which popped 20 times larger than its regular size. Orville died at the age of 88.
