2-player game invented by JH Conway. Ideally played on a goban (Go board), or any other 19x19 board; you should probably limit the board to 15x19 for a more exciting game.

Place one black stone (the ball) at the centre of the board. The object of the game is to get the ball to your opponent's home row (the row nearest him), or beyond it. Players take turns, performing one of the following legal moves:

  • Place a white stone (player? move?) on any vacant board position.
  • Pass the ball: You may move the ball past any adjacent line of white stones (horizontally, vertically or diagonally), landing at the other end, and removing those stones; you may repeat this process from you landing position, if you still can.

Additionally, if a square on the home row is occupied, you may pass the ball beyond that stone, as if the board extended for another row. However, you may not move the ball off the side of the board. This is, of course, a TOUCHDOWN!
