Photochemical refers to the effects of light on substances, or the production of light by nonliving substances. For example, the exposure of film in a camera is a photochemical process, and so is some glowing phosphorous as one might find on a watch dial.

Of or pertaining to chemical action of light, or produced by it; as, the photochemical changes of the visual purple of the retina.
