A
legendary, much rumoured, but completely
non-existent pokémon. Shortly after the
Silver and
Gold sequels were announced, newsgroups started talking about a blue
Picachu.
One probable origin of this rumour was a misunderstanding of the original Japanese Pokémon cartoon. In a series that had not yet been translated to English, one of the new characters has a Marill – also a blue, mouse-like Pokémon.
