2/3 cup, pineapple syrup drained from a can of crushed pineapple. Add cold water if necessary.
2/3 cup, whole bran
2 cups, sifted flour
1/2 cup, sugar
2 teaspoons, baking powder
1/4 teaspoon, baking soda
1 teaspoon, salt
1/2 cup, your favorite chopped nuts
1/2 cup, drained crushed pineapple
1 egg, well beaten
2 tablespoons, melted shortening

Pour syrup over bran and let stand to soak. Sift dry ingredients. Add nuts, pineapple, egg, and shortening. Beat slightly. Add syrup/bran mixture and mix slowly. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake in 325° oven for one hour and fifteen minutes.

This makes good cheese sandwiches.
