A method of solving a problem--especially, fixing any broken object around the house, including what you're wearing--involving the most unusual and cost-saving means possible. Most often used to repair objects that "really should just be thrown but out, but hey, you can still get some use outta this thing." Common tools include rubberbands, coat hangers, twine, lots of duct tape, and anything found around the house (and if you've got Polish grandparents, you know just what an arsenal that implies).
