In the United Kingdom, the Post War Dream originated after World War II. The dream was that the state would be able to care for its subjects from the cradle to the grave and that Britain would be able to guarantee full-employment. The Post-War Dream ended during the economic crises of the the 1970s. The end of the Post War Dream inspired the "The Final Cut" (subtitled a requiem for the post war dream) by Pink Floyd.
