Πρεσβων

A son of Phrixus and of Iophassa, the daughter of Aeetes, the king of Colchis (see PHRIXUS for other traditions relating to the marriage of Phrixus). Presbon married Buzyges, the daughter of Lycus, by whom he had a son Clymenus (Table 33). After the death of Phrixus, Presbon returned to Orchomenus to reclaim the kingdom of his grandfather, Athamas. The latter had on his death-bed entrusted it to his great-nephews, the grandsons of Sisyphus, because he believed that his own male line was extinct. On learning of Presbon's return, the two grandsons of Sisyphus, Haliartus and Coronus, hastened to welcome him and restore his kingdom to him. They founded the cities of Haliartus and Coronea. Presbon was the grandfather of ERGINUS, the last of the line of Athamas to rule over Orchomenus.
