An even more strident group of librarians than the Social Responsibilities Round Table of the American Library Association, the PLG actively campaigns against corporate interests is librarianship.

They actively take stands against, for example the recent gift of Coke advertising material to the Library of Congress, arguing that because of the associated publicity the main purpose of the gift was a marketing by coke rather than the enrichment of the Library of Congress collections. They also argued that the gift cost the library more in terms of hosting the publicity and press than any possible benefit accrued from enrichment of the collections.
