Raymond E. Feist was born in Southern California in 1945, now a San Diegan by choice. Raymond holds a B.A. in Communication Arts (with honours) from UCSD. Now at least four times on the New York Times Bestseller List for his works set in the world of Midkemia. His books have been translated into more than 15 different languages.

Some hobbies of Mr. Feist (and common discussion topics on the mailing list) include collecting movies on DVD, fine wine, books on the history of Professional Football, and the works of American Illustrators. Though his earlier books state Mr. Feist lives with his author wife Kathlyn S. Starbuck, the couple divorced in 2000.

The world Midkemia, in which Mr. Feist's books are based, was created by Raymond and a group of friends in 1977. They used this world for role-playing, and eventually Raymond wrote his first book, Magician, based in this world. The creators founded Midkemia Press for distribution of role-playing materials for usage in the Midkemia world. For more information, and detailed history, see: http://www.midkemia.com/

Recently completing Honoured Enemy, co-authored by William Forstchen, the first book in the Legends of the Riftwar series, and Murder in LaMut, co-authored by Joel Rosenberg; he is currently working on Talon of the Silver Hawk, the first book in The Conclave of the Shadows, which follows in the near Future after the end of the Serpentwar Saga.

There are also two computer games based on Mr. Feists work, Betrayal at Krondor and Return to Krondor, upon which the Krondor: The Betrayal and Krondor: Tear of the Gods novels are based. The book Krondor: The Assassins is the missing link between the two games.

His books include:

The Riftwar saga: Other novels: The Krondor series: The Serpentwar Saga: The Empire series, with Janny Wurts: Legends of the Riftwar, short stories based around the time of the riftwar: The Conclave of the Shadows series, following on from the Serpentwar Saga (both books not yet released currently): And finally, Raymond's Short Works:
The starting place in these books, if you're interested, is Magician and the rest of the Riftwar saga. The above listing is somewhat chronological, but the order in which the books are read after the Riftwar/Serpentwar sagas is really quite inconsequential, as the stories are set throughout the Midkemia timeline.

Be warned, though, this list generates large amounts of E-Mail; sometimes 50-100 messages per day.
