Reality Dream is a surreal short machinima movie, made by the Unreal Movie Team in October 1998. The plot could be construed as being 'Matrix-style' - ie, what is real?

The movie is only about 5 minutes long, but as it progresses, you find out that what you thought was happening, isn't, and that something all together more sinister is going on.

This was the second machinima movie to be completed by the Unreal Movie Team after it's formation in the summer of 1998. The first being Powerout.
Sorry to correct Hugh here, but Reality dream was the first real movie to be made by the Unreal Movie Team, as Powerout came after Reality Dream. The first release from the Unreal Movie Team was a short movie entitled simply 'Trailer'. Since 'Trailer' was the first piece of machinima within the Unreal game engine, it was intended to show the features that would be possible.

Reality Dream took far longer to make that I had expected because of relying on other people for almost all factors in the movie. Powerout was created within a week to make sure that Unreal movies could be created with very few people.
