An autonomous region of central Florida, near Orlando, consisting of parcels of land which Disney bought up very quietly and under many names.

The Reedy Creek Improvement District is governed by its citizens, of course, and there are only about a dozen or so families living there. They're the families of Disney executives. As a result, Disney is allowed to avoid paying Orlando taxes, answering to Orlando zoning boards, and generally having to follow any rules but their own.

Carl Hiaasen's book Team Rodent has more details about this sweetheart deal.
