A noderpolis is a city where at least ten Everythingians reside, according to the Everything People Registry (EPR). This register will attempt to keep an accurate and current list of these cities, and will watch out for any others that are emerging which may in the future be granted noderpolis status.

Naturally, this warrants a disclaimer. This information is only as reliable as noders are of providing their details and editors are of updating the registries. While utmost care has been taken, it is almost certain that some inactive noders have been counted, and some double-counting might have occurred. Several conurbanous towns in the United States have been grouped together into Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Areas (CMSAs).

Anyhoo, as of 16 February 2005 the world had 32 noderpolises. Not suprisingly, all are in English-speaking countries, most are in North America, and the noder capital of the world is New York City in terms of being the city of choice for the most number of Everythingians (well, whatever the New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island CMSA includes).

Towns with universities are well represented (Ann Arbor alone had 11 Everythingians). Canada and Australia appear to punch above their weight in terms of hosting noderpolises, but one must remember Canadians and Australians tend to be city-dwellers. Any armchair sociologists might want to speculate about any number of reasons why some smaller cities have more noders than larger ones; it could be due to a town’s technological penetration entwined with a lousy cultural life that lead some to Everything2 to feed their souls, or just as likely a happening social scene with frequent and well publicised noder meets.
