Rick's Furniture is a
sleazy furniture store located in
Houston, TX. Though most
Houstonians probably could not comment about the
quality of their furniture, their
commercials are notorious around the
Bayou City.
Unabashedly low-budget, the commercials feature a one-camera setup that has a hefty black fellow wearing a loud silk shirt lip-synching a cheesy love song that seems to have very little to do with furniture. In the background, scans from the Rick's Furniture Catalogue slide by, and you can see the creases and staples on the pages . The commercial ends with a wide shot of a dingy furniture warehouse. A sublime example of late-night advertising.
