He's probably best known by most folks as Mike Stivic (or Meathead) in the best sitcom that there ever was, All in the Family.

He's also a very accomplished director, with such films as Misery, The American President, The Story of Us, Ghosts of Mississippi, Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, and the best movie that there ever was, The Princess Bride.
