(From Robinson Crusoe, a classic story of island survival.)

A story about being marooned or stranded on an island. (Sci-fi Robinsonades often extend this concept to survival on a planet.)

William Golding's Lord of the Flies is the most famous of modern Robinsonades, but is uncharacteristic in the number of people involved. More often, only one person -- occasionally one family -- is stranded and struggling to survive.
