(1890–1962) English statistician and biologist. R.A. Fisher is considered to be one of the founders of modern statistics. While working in agricultural research in the 1920s and 1930s, he showed how the research and ideas of Mendel support Darwin's theory of natural selection. This and other work resulted in many important statistical concepts and techniques. These include:

Fisher was elected a member of the Royal Society in 1929 and knighted in 1952.
