The Royal Television Society is the oldest television society in the world. It started life as The Television Society when it was founded by scientists and engineers in 1927, nine years before the first public service broadcast from Alexandra Palace. It gained 'Royal' to its name in 1966 and now has over 4000 members from all fields of the broadcasting industry.
