Abbreviation that means "straight down the middle" in pinball. This is in reference to when a ball goes in between the flippers and has little chance of being rescued. In some games, the ball will go SDTM if it can't make it to the top of a ramp. Other times, bad luck when hitting a target in the center of the playfield will cause a ball to go SDTM. It is possible to rescue the ball if it does go SDTM. One way is through a death save, and other times, you may be able to divert the course of the ball with one of the flippers and be able to send it back out with another shot.
