A phenomenon that I noticed which I like to call SOV pseudo-anglicism, occasionally occurring in Japan, is that some made-up English phrases (pseudo-anglicism) follow the Japanese SOV word order instead of English SVO word order. Examples:
- A content creator may describe what he or she does for a living as "content create" (kontentsu kurieito).
- A soccer commentator may describe passing a ball to a teammate with a clear opening as "chance make" (chansu meiku).
- custom-configured Vaio laptops are advertised in Japan as "Sony Order Made", rather than "Made-to-Order"
- Some of these are seeping into English: in games, to go to the next level is "level up" (reberu appu) and to earn additional life is "1 up" (wan appu)
