Sandringham, a Norfolk estate, 3 miles from the sea and 7-1/2 miles N.N.E. of Lynn, England, comprising over 7,000 acres; was purchased in 1862 by King Edward, then Prince of Wales. The existing mansion was demolished, and the present hall built. Sandringham was the scene of the death of eldest son of King Edward, the Duke of Clarence (Jan. 14, 1892).
