Santa Clara Vanguard

DCI member corps from Santa Clara, CA. Long rich history with several DCI Championships in late 1980's.

Repertoire has included "Phantom Of The Opera," "Miss Saigon," "Carmen," "Fiddler On The Roof," and the music of Sir William Walton.

Santa Clara Vanguard is known for their crisp horn arrangements, exciting movement program, color guard, and really incredible percussion ensemble.

The Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps is a world-renowned, world champion drum and bugle corps that travels between six and eight weeks each summer throughout the United States and Canada performing in competitive field shows and parades. The Vanguard provides instruction for the experienced through the advanced member in the areas of brass, percussion and color guard.

I had the absolute privilege to see the Vanguard three times during their 2004 tour, and they were absolutely amazing. The sound they put out is unique from all the other top corps; they sound more like a marching wind ensemble than a drum and bugle corps. Everything they do is crisp and clean, and their eyes burn with intensity.
