Scott Kim is a self-described "puzzlemaster" who resides in El Granada, California. In his words: "Since 1990 I have been a full-time independent designer of visual puzzles and games for the web, computer games, magazines and toys. My puzzles are in the spirit of Tetris and M.C. Escher — visually stimulating, thought provoking, broadly appealing, and highly original."

He writes for the monthly magazine Discover in "The Boggler" column. His friend Douglas Hofstadter credits him for the idea of the Kimian self-rep. He also takes credit for the idea of inversions in writing.
