UK. Many of the Scottish papers have a long and distinguished history, and a brief description of each one is given.

The Herald, formerly the
Glasgow Herald - established in 1783, it claims to be “one of the oldest English language daily newspapers in the world”. It has a fairly balanced political outlook, with an occasional glance towards
Scottish independence.
The Oban Times – West of
Scotland paper.
The Press and Journal – Aberdeen-based paper, “Britain's oldest daily newspaper, and the world's third-oldest English-language newspaper - dating back to 1746.”
The Scotsman – The Herald’s
Edinburgh rival, with a similar reputation as a quality paper.
