At the time
We were a breathless mixture,
Excitement, fear and uncertainty

Nervous embrace
Leading to
Eyes, half shut
Heads tilted to the side
Mouths, half open (lips awkward)
Hearts racing

Now
All grown up
We are jaded
Mostly

But still hold out hope
That a first kiss can be
astonishing

Wanting to believe again,
that wonder is possible; not always childlike
