A very old, very wise Sufi Teacher who loved to tell stories once told me this about “seeing the light”. He said:

“All Religions are like schools of fish swimming in the ocean. They all look up, see the sunlight shining through the water and think that they have seen the the light. “

Twenty years later, I would add to that:

Schools of fish used to swimming in the inky depths of the ocean are more excitable and make more bubbles about seeing sunlight.

And

We’re all eating, shitting, pissing, and blowing bubbles in the same water. So it’s only polite to navigate with care and avoid blowing bubbles up someone else’s fins.
