A rackmount 8-voice polyphonic sampler.

Released in 1987, the P3000 features quite sophisticated technology for its age. It is a 16-bit sampler with variable sampling rate up to 48KHz. There's 2MB of internal memory, which is expandable to 8MB. Audio editing features include quick sample looping and trimming. A resonant low-pass VCF provides warm filter effects to the sampled sounds.

MIDI support is included for external control, and there's also an SCSI interface for sample storage. A detachable face-plate with a large LCD display allows comfortable access and editing.

Unfortunately the Prophet 3000 was released just as its manufacturer Sequential went out of business. Not many units were produced, so the P3000 is hard to find nowadays.
