My reasons for noding this are selfish...
Born in Leningrad in 1915, this veteran of the Russo-Finnish war became a prolific writer in his early thirties.
His best known novel, It Happened in Penkovo 1953, received substantial government attention for semi-radical ideas. Ironicly, one of his previous novels, The Trucks on the Road are Ours 1950, won a Stalin Prize though the verse and prose are similar.
I found a short story by Antonov in an anthology published in 1963 by Penguin. The story The Application Form had a Kafkaesque and Bartleby the Scrivener feel. I was intrigued. I still am, yet research produced slim information and biography of this man.
